Description
The holder of this Badge has acquired knowledge relating to some of the musical instruments forming an orchestra and knowledge regarding music listening and music as an individual and social event. The above-mentioned knowledge and competencies have been acquired through attendance of the Bbetween 2017 Music - Listening: Musical instruments pathway. This pathway, which was set up in collaboration with the conservatories of Milan and Como, is devoted to reflective music listening, focusing on the ability to distinguish between different types of instruments and types of musical genre. It aids the promotion of musical culture among students and staff of the University, as well as the general public and provides them with the essential tools to assess the execution of musical pieces in its fundamental components: instruments and genre. The pathway provides guided listening to a series of 8 concerts performed in the University from February to May 2017, scheduled as follows (go to the full programme).
Badge Criteria
The Bbetween 2017 Music -Listening: Musical instruments Badge is a participation Badge. It is issued to students of the University and to others who have enrolled for the pathway and attended at least 5 of the 8 meetings scheduled. The pathway is open to everyone and no relevant knowledge is required on enrolment. There is no limit to the number of participants that may enrol.
Skills
The holder of this Badge has demonstrated that he or she possesses and knows how to use the following ABILITIES: ability of musical listening; placing musical compositions into historical context; analysis of the main components of a composition and its execution; ability to compare executions with various musical instruments; and the following SOFT SKILLS: analysis: the participants are guided through the analysis of a musical genre in order to detect the themes and the essential elements and to identify the connections and deviations between the elements in question in the score. Analysis of the types of instruments used is included, as well as the identification of different timbral components connected to the individual instruments. overall vision: the participants are capable of identifying and analysing the historical and historic-musical context in which a piece of music is placed; summary: the participants are able to identify the essential aspects of the musical piece performed and define the priorities in question in the musical text; flexibility of thought: the participants are able to approach the historical-musical context being referred to. The holder of this Badge has also successfully learned KNOWLEDGE relating to: historical-musical classification of the classical, romantic and contemporary eras and the genres of music included within them; studying styles and their associated authors; studying instruments used; elements of analysis of musical interpretation.
