Description
The Language Proficiency Badge - English B2 - Reading and Listening certifies the achievement of a level equivalent to B2 as indicated by the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference), the European system that sets the general standards for language skills. For the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, to know and communicate in a foreign language is the second key competence, so the Badge has a particularly important role in the current European context. The B2 Reading and Listening tests of English are provided through the Moodle platform of the Language Centre of the University of Padova. Badge Criteria
The owner of this Badge: has or has had an account @studenti. unipd.it or @unipd.it (students of CdL and CdLM, students who participate in mobility programmes, PhD students, Master students, teaching staff, administrative and technical staff and research fellows at the University of Padova); has passed the TAL - B2 language test as proof of English language knowledge for reading and listening skills at the Language Centre of the University of Padova. Therefore, this Badge recognizes the achievement of a level equivalent to B2 for the English language in reading and listening skills with reference to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages Knowledge (CEFR).
Skills
The owner of this Badge: is able to understand what is being said in standard language, live or recorded, on topics both familiar and non, which normally one faces in life, social relationships, study and work; is able to understand the basic concepts of speeches formulated in standard input on concrete and abstract topics, even when they are conceptually and linguistically complex; furthermore can understand language in his/her field of specialization; is able to understand lectures, speeches of a certain length and to follow complex discussions, provided the subject is familiar; is able to read extensively, adapting style and speed of reading to different texts (articles, news reports, reports on current affairs, contemporary narrative texts), using the appropriate sources for reference and consultation.
