Issuer
Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca.
Issued since 14 December 2017.
Description
The holder of this Badge has learned the first elements of Italian Sign Language (LIS), a language which uses a visual medium of gesture, rather than the acoustic, vocal medium. This pathway leads to learning a different linguistic structure from that of spoken languages and acquiring a basic vocabulary of Italian Sign Language, with which the participant will have the ability to carry on a simple conversation on matters of daily life. The pathway is also an opportunity to re-conceptualise situations that are traditionally seen as a handicap into sources of opportunity. The above-mentioned knowledge and competencies have been acquired through attending the pathway of Bbetween 2017 Languages - LIS: basic course. The pathway is held by a mother-tongue deaf teacher and does not involve use of Italian. The lessons are programmed in 18 classes of 2 hours each, making a total of 36 hours, at the end of which each participant will know how to make brief conversational exchanges in LIS.
