Description
The holder of this Badge has acquired competencies regarding comprehension of the spoken word and oral production, by listening to and watching films and TV series in the English language. The above-mentioned competencies have been acquired by participating in the Bbetween Languages 2017 - English and MEDIA: TV pathway . The course is intended for anyone who possesses linguistic competencies in English Language: level B1-B2. The pathway consists of 4 lessons of approximately two hours each, during which short films and TV series (Seinfeld, Doctor House, The Devil Wears Prada, Malcolm X, Legally Blond, Star Trek, BBC News and Jaws) are shown, analysed and commented on. The pathway aims at goals such as: expanding vocabulary; improving pronunciation and recognition of words; paying attention to various registers in spoken language (common language use, social and economics language use, informative language use) in order to increase the skills of comprehension of the spoken word and improve oral communication (use of intonation to understand and be understood); and it involves the carrying out of the following activities: preparation for listening, through targeted exercises related to vocabulary; guided listening through closed and open questions with collective or group discussions, free listening; pronunciation and speaking activities; exploration of lexical chunks; knowledge of Active Viewing.
Badge Criteria
The Bbetween Languages 2017 - English and MEDIA: TV is an activity Badge. It is issued to students of the University, as well as others, who have enrolled, attended the projection, and taken an active part in 6 hours of lessons out of the 8 programmes for the pathway (75% of the activities). The pathway is open to everyone, and an English Language: level B1-B2 is required on starting. The pathway is activated with a minimum of 15 enrolments and is divided into several classes to enable the participation of everyone who has enrolled.

The holder of this Badge has demonstrated that he/she possesses and knows how to use the following SKILLS: oral comprehension in the English language; oral expression in the English language; listening in the English language; and has demonstrated that he/she possesses and knows how to use the following SOFT SKILLS: communication skills; social skills and abilities; The holder of this Badge has also acquired aspects of KNOWLEDGE in the following areas: journalism and information; social and behavioural sciences.
