Description
The holder of this Badge was selected for, and subsequently attended, one of the two programmes, organised by the Associazione Diplomatici (the italian Association of Diplomats), aimed at personal growth, at acquisition of professional competencies exploitable in Italy and abroad, at orientation towards international careers and at promoting the values of the United Nations and the European Union among the younger generations, in an international context that is becoming ever more complex. The activities included in the programmes are composed of multi-disciplinary training workshops, reproducing the operating mechanisms and dynamics of the main organisms and specialist agencies within the United Nations and the European Commission. The first two programmes planned for 2017 are: 1. UN - NEW YORK Model Programme (CWMUN NEWYORK, 16-22 March 2017): the students work as United Nations Ambassadors of the member states, as well as working as ministers and leaders in simulations of G8, G20, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The training programme is made up of these courses: Global Affairs Course (GAC) and UN Delegate Course. 2. EU - BRUSSELS Model Programme (CWMUNEU, 11-14 April 2017): seminars, encounters and visits to institutions in Brussels, as well as two simulations of the operating mechanism of the European Commission. Coordination of the work is entrusted to officials of the European Commission, belonging to the General Management responsible for each topic dealt with.
Badge Criteria
The Change the World: diplomatic career Badge is issued to all the students of the University of Milan-Bicocca who have passed the selection procedure organised by the Associazione Diplomatici (the italian Association of Diplomats), who have actively taken part in the programmed activities and attained the certificate of the Associazione Diplomatici, and who have submitted a written report to the coordinator of the degree course they are following at the University of Milan-Bicocca. For students of the University of Milan-Bicocca enrolled in the Corso di Laurea in Scienze dei Servizi Giuridici (First Degree Course in the Science of Legal Services) and in the Corso di Laurea Magistrale a Ciclo unico in Giurisprudenza (single-cycle Masters Degree Course in Law), from the third year on a contribution towards the enrolment fee is available for this programme, which is organised annually by the Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza (Department of Law). This contribution is offered to those who have passed the selection procedure organised jointly by the Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza and the Associazione Diplomatici. Information regarding the selection may be found in the relevant notice, in the section headed “avvisi di presidenza (administrative notices)", in the months prior to the start of the programmes.

The holder of this Badge has demonstrated that he or she possesses and knows how to use the following SKILLS: knowledge of the role, aims and internal organization of the UN/EU; knowledge of the operational procedures of UN/EU organisms; deeper knowledge of the UN/EU nation assigned; ability in the preparation of documents representing the UN/EU nation assigned; ability to speak in public and write in English; ability of international diplomatic negotiations; and the following SOFT SKILLS: ability to work in a team; ability to resolve conflicts; ability in problem solving; negotiation skills; multi-cultural competencies; ability to communicate. The holder of this Badge also acquired the following KNOWLEDGE: wide knowledge of international relations; excellent knowledge of international or European community law; knowledge of the structure, work flow and procedure of and within the UN/EU; general overview of and practical/involved approach to diplomatic activities.
