Description
The holder of this Badge has successfully attended the Economic Citizenship course delivered by ECOLE (Economic Literacy for Empowerment). The aim of the ECOLE project is to train young people and adults about economics, finance and entrepreneurship issues. Such key skills are lacking from most formal education channels, despite their relevance for people’s life and career goals. In the framework of the “school-work alternating training ECOLE provides students with the basic skills that are essential for successfully completing there quired internships. The Economic Citizenship course is built to convey the basic knowledge about the role of institutional actors in the economic life and the main features of financial institutions. It is divided into five parts: 1. Key economic variables2. Economic policies3. Global development4. Money and credit5. Banking system and financial marketsAt the end of the course a final exam, if passed, allows the release of the Badge. The test’s subjects are based on the ECOLE Syllabus, published at www. ecole. info. The course is delivered through an e-learning platform. Training materials consist of e-books, multimedia lessons, slides, sample tests for checking and self-evaluation, exam simulations, and interactive discussion tools.
Badge Criteria
The ECOLE -Economic Citizenship Badge is open to students, graduates, teachers, professionals, entrepreneurs, but also ordinary citizens who want to acquire new skills and strengthen their curricula. The Badge is awarded to those who enrolled in the related program and who passed the final exam, which must be taken at the partner institutions of ECOLE. The exam is managed by ITG, an independent software house dealing for years as acertification provider, also in collaboration with the Italian Secretary ofEducation. The testlength is 45 minutes and it consists of 30 multiple choice questions (with fouralternative of which one is correct). The badge is assigned if at least 60% ofthe questions (18 out of 30) are answered correctly. Skills
The holder of this Badge has shown to possess and to be able to use the following skills: To identify the key variables of the economy, mastering the basic concepts related to the public budget, employment and inflation. To understand the nature of economic cycles and the alternation of growth and recession; to distinguish fiscal policies and monetary policies, and to understand the effects of these policies on the economy; to know the main toolsof fiscal policies, identifying the relationship between taxation, public expenditure and public debt; to know the main tools of monetary policies, identifying the role played by central banks. To understand the dynamics that characterize the current globalized economy, the meaning of concepts such as protectionism and free trade and their application in international trade; to know the main supranational institutions for economic cooperation; to understand the concept of sustainable development; to know the definition of common goods and public goods. To know the definition of money and the different means of payment; to understand the basic principles of credit; to apply the concepts of interest and of interest rate. To understand the basic concepts of the family budget; to know the main operations carried out by the banking sector; to distinguish among different types of financial instruments and to identify the risk profile associated with them.
