Description

This Badge is issued to Representatives for information and services (RIF) for the Federal Portal of the University of Turin, who, apart from using their own IT competencies to customise and manage their own virtual operating systems, also provide support for the end users (teachers, students and guests). Each structure belonging to a Cloud project appoints a reference figure (Thinclient and Cloud RIF) who works within the UNITO CLOUD service for Teaching. In particular, the Thinclient and Cloud RIF’s ensure: support in the inspection stage of the premises during the startup; assistance to end users; management and updating of his or her own environment of virtual machines; Where there is no local supervision, the representatives fulfil the tasks of: ensuring physical interconnections of terminals (e. g. network cables, electric leads, video leads) ensuring that the apparatus (thin clients and monitors) are fully functional. This Badge gives validity to the individual competencies of the Thinclient and Cloud RIF.

Badge Criteria

This Badge is issued to employees of the University of Turin who have been officially appointed as Representatives for information and services (RIF) for the Federal Portal for the Thinclient and Cloud service and have participated in the training course. The Badge certifies successful completion of the course and passing of the final examination, which consists of an online test and an interview: it demonstrates knowledge of reference documentation and ability to ensure proper fulfilment of the role.

Skills

The holder of this Badge has already acquired the "Representatives for information and services-Federal Portal " Badge and therefore possesses the valid competencies. The holder of this Badge also carries out the following activities: participating in the startup stage: inspection of premises, listing software and relevant licences, testing, etc. ; dealing with the management of any servers released to the UNITO Cloud for teaching;  following normal management of physical and virtual environments; ensuring that both the equipment (ThinClients and/or monitors) and the electric cabling and networks are completely in order; dealing with malfunctioning terminals;  updating operational systems, with appropriate patches, and  the software applications installed in the startup stage;  releasing new software, ensuring it is properly licensed;  customising user profiles through domain or script Policy;  altering the list of users authorised to use the system;  checking that equipment is working properly when an event/encounter is to be held; fostering knowledge of solutions and services that are already available within his or her own Organisational Unit.
