Description

From May to October 2015, nearly 5000 volunteers, of all ages and coming from different countries, volunteered at Expo Milano, the Universal Exposition 2015. Volunteers were able to spend their competences and to acquire new ones thanks to a specific training. This badge proves capabilities to communicate and interact with the public; knowledge of Expo Milano 2015 and of the previous universal expositions; organizational skills.

Badge Criteria

To obtain this badge was necessary to have been selected and to have volunteered at Expo Milano 2015. The learner in possession of this badge has successfully passed: the online training via e-learning platform; a written test at the end of the theoretical training, performed online via e-learning platform; the implementation of the acquired knowledge, giving effective support to the team and the organization during the event. The learner also proved to be able to perform the following activities: welcoming visitors and participants; providing support in organizing and managing queues and the flow of visitors during the different phases of the visit; providing support to people with special needs (eg. mothers with children, disabled, elderly etc. ); providing information to visitors about the exposition site; providing support in managing the entrance and exit of visitors to and from the exposition site; participating in briefings with Team Leader and volunteers.

It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem; Oral comprehension: the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The owner of this badge has shown to have and know how to use the following SKILLS: Speaking: talking to others using the mother tongue; Coordination: adjusting actions in relation to others actions; Active Listening: giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times; Service Orientation: actively looking for ways to help people; Troubleshooting: determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it; Social Perceptiveness: being aware of others reactions and understanding why they react as they do; Time Management: managing one's own time and the time of others. and the following SOFT SKILLS: Adapt to change; Quick-wittedness (fast mental speed of reaction); Proactivity; Work as part of a team. The owner of this badge has also learned successfully the following KNOWLEDGE: History of World Expositions; Expo 2015 "Feeding the Pian et, Energy for Life"; Volunteering and active citizenship; Main safety standards (safety, security, emergency management).
